Wookies in the Woods 2019 was our first road trip in the S4RW Van and the first time down to WitW and our first time to The Tail of the Dragon. We can just spit it out now: This was an amazing trip to an amazing event! Bravo to the organizers and the enthusiasts of WitW for well organized event with an very inviting feel. Keep doing what your doing and we will keep coming back!
Words can't describe the roads surrounding and including legendary Tail of the Dragon. We managed to drive the 11 miles and 318 curves in a 1 Ton extended passenger van towing our Hibiscus B5 S4 at around 3 am. White knuckles, appreciation of good brakes, and gratitude for arrival were all topics of conversation along the way.
We shared a house up from Outland Gas and Grocery with the owner of SPR Industries (#sprindustries) and his family, and his uncooperative RWD-converted, C5 2.7T A6. Side Bar: Check out Outland when you go! The folks there were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what roads were good that day. Roddy and I were a little bummed along with Jac, owner, about the non-start issues with the #rwdyaudi_taxi that persisted all weekend. The issues turned out to be a loss of compression issue. Looking forward to seeing what this car will be packing at S4 Race Wars 2019
No fear though Race Wars fans! There was another rear wheel drive big body people carrier with plenty of juice to make the twisties fun! Enter the 6.0 L96 powered #S4RWvan, a 2018 Chevrolet Express 3500 Extended Passenger Van. Yes, that's chevy's wording. We tossed the keys to the van and he made the best of it while Stephen hot shoed the Hibiscus in all of its stock riding glory.
Enough of the reminiscing for now. We will absolutely be back next year and will let the photos speak. More video coverage to come.
